Services by Directors of Special Education Parents and teachers are encouraged to contact the Director assigned to their district at any time. Some of the Directors are also assigned to HVED programs such as SAIL, SPECTRUM, and the ALC. The Director will assist the member district administration with special education teacher observations and evaluations.

The Director helps with cases that may be more difficult or complicated. The Director works with the member district administration to ensure all special education procedures are being followed. Each Director is assigned to a group of member districts. Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) has four Directors of Special Education.
